Reverend Larry J. Lockett, Jr
We are incredibly blessed and honored to have Reverend Larry J. Lockett, Jr. serving as Senior Pastor of Words of Faith AME Church. As a church body we are very excited to be part of what God is doing here under his leadership, not only within the walls of our church, but also in the community. Reverend Lockett cordially invites you to read more about him and to join us as we follow the will of God by taking God’s message to the community and sharing the love of Jesus with everyone we encounter. Reverend Lockett encourages the congregation with these words: “As we progress on our journey together, I look forward to the opportunities we face together and the work we do for the kingdom of God.” The Words of Faith congregation looks forward to seeing you soon.
On June 10, 2016, Reverend Larry J. Lockett, Jr. was appointed pastor of Words of Faith AME Church, Mableton, Georgia. Reverend Lockett served on the ministerial staff at Words of Faith for the 7 years immediately preceding his appointment. The congregation acknowledges his appointment as answered prayer and feels truly blessed to have him as our pastor. He replaces our founding pastor, Reverend Walter D. Moon and his wife and God’s servant, Mrs. Winford G. Moon. Reverend Lockett is a native of Macon, Georgia and is the son of Reverend Larry J. Lockett, Sr. and Evelyn Harris Lockett. He is the proud father of son Micah D. Moon and daughter Lisa M. Lockett, and the loving husband of the late Sonita Moon Lockett.
Reverend Lockett holds the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from Southern Polytechnic State University and a Master of Divinity degree from Turner Seminary at The Interdenominational Theological Center. He is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry Program at Asbury Theological Seminary. Reverend Lockett has shared his vision to reach out to our youth and to understand the needs of and serve the local community. “My desire in ministry is to glorify God, follow Jesus, and witness to the redeeming, transformative power of the Holy Spirit. Through ministering, I seek to engage the lost, the broken, the poor, and the marginalized in an open dialogue—one that stimulates and empowers their spiritual consciousness to believe in, strive for deeper understanding of, and adhere to the divine will of God for their lives.” He encourages the congregation with these words: “As we progress on our journey together, I look forward to the opportunities we face together and the work we do for the kingdom of God.”
